Expanding

Distributing products and collecting like terms.

Expanding multiplies out brackets: every term in one factor times every term in the other, then like terms combined. (x + 1)³ expands to x³ + 3x² + 3x + 1 — the coefficients are a row of Pascal's triangle.

Beispiel: expand (x+1)^3

Expand (x + 1)^3

\left(x + 1\right)^{3}

Schritt für Schritt

  1. \left(x + 1\right)^{3}

    Start from the expression.

  2. x^{3} + 3 x^{2} + 3 x + 1

    Distribute (multiply out) the products.
